This feature tells the dramatic and improbable story of the 2005 Big South Conference Football Co-Champions from Charleston Southern University as part of the Big South's "Best of the Best" 25th Anniversary series of video vignettes. Following the death of inspirational star player Eddie Gadson and some early season struggles, the Buccaneers rallied as a team to set up a final game showdown against the favored Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. CSU trailed late in that game, but used a remarkable combination of persistence, skill, and luck to force the game into overtime and then defeat Coastal to share the crown. Of all the Big South's "Best of the Best" retrospectives, perhaps none has the miraculous quality of the emotional journey taken by these Buccaneers, both on and off the football field.
